Why analysis costs what it does
Three things set the bill: the fee per session, how often you go, and for how long. A Jungian analyst has trained for several years after a clinical qualification, and analysis meets weekly or more, usually for two to five years or longer. At US rates, a year of weekly sessions costs $7,200–12,000. That is the real cost of the problem most people describe: more dreams than one session can hold, and a fee that limits how many sessions there can be. What the work itself is like is set out in what Jungian therapy is like.
Lower-cost routes to an analyst
Most reduced-fee routes pair you with an analyst in training under supervision, and most ask for a long commitment in return.
- UK. AJA members offer reduced fees of £40 a session or less on a low income; the trainee scheme asks for three sessions a week in person for two years, and had no vacancies in April 2026. The SAP Clinic offers low-cost analysis or psychotherapy in and around London after two consultation meetings, usually with a waiting list. The British Psychotherapy Foundation lists once-weekly therapy at £30–50, with some Jungian vacancies outside London.
- US. The C.G. Jung Institute of New York sees clients with household incomes up to $55,000 on a sliding scale, in person. The C.G. Jung Institutes of Los Angeles and San Francisco run sliding-scale clinics too; the US cost page lists them with what each asks.
Are paid AI dream apps worth it?
It depends on how often you work with dreams. A general assistant such as ChatGPT will write a Jungian-sounding commentary on a dream at no cost. What it does not do by default is hold your context, keep every dream, or apply the same method each time, so each answer starts from nothing. Can ChatGPT interpret dreams? tests the same dreams side by side.
A paid Jungian app is for people who dream often and want each dream worked while it is fresh. Coniunctio analyses every symbol against your own associations, keeps every dream in a searchable journal so a series can be seen, and ends each analysis with a ritual and three questions. At $79.99–139.99 a month, it costs less than one analyst session in most US cities. It does not replace an analyst: it cannot notice what you leave out, and it is no place for dreams tied to distress. If you would use it a few times a year, the free options are enough.
Common questions
How much does Jungian analysis cost per month?
At one session a week, typically $600–1,000 a month in the US, where most analysts charge $150–250 a session, and £280–600 a month in the UK, at £70–150 a session. Analysis usually runs for years.
Is there low-cost Jungian analysis?
Yes. In the UK, AJA members offer fees of £40 a session or less on a low income, and the SAP Clinic and British Psychotherapy Foundation run low-cost schemes. In the US, the C.G. Jung Institutes of New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco run sliding-scale clinics with analysts in training.
Are paid AI dream apps worth it?
For people who work with dreams often, a paid Jungian app adds what a general chatbot lacks by default: a consistent method, your context, and every dream kept so a series can be seen. Coniunctio costs $79.99–139.99 a month, less than one analyst session in most US cities. It does not replace an analyst.
